Abstract:
A consistent explanation of both the β-γ angular correlation and the β-ray spectrum of Sb124 is obtained with the ST type interaction in the Fermi theory of β-decay. It is concluded that (i) the decay scheme is 3(-) - 2(+) - 0(+), (ii) the β-decay is a first forbidden transition which contains the reduced nuclear matrix elements [German Symbol M](β r), [German Symbol M](β a), [German Symbol M](β σ × r) and [German Symbol M](Bβij), and (iii) the γ-decay is an electric quadrupole radiation. It is also noticed that 4(+) - 2(+) - 0(+) is ruled out.

- Prof. R. E. Marshak, who came to Kyoto for the International Conference of Theoretical Physics in Sept. (1953), had the kindness to lend us th report of the Conference at Indiana University, Bloomington, in May (1953). This report contains the discussions of new experimental results of Sb124 and Te124 measured by Prof. F. R. Metzger, by Prof. L. M. Langer. and by Dr. Tomlinson, where some discrepancies are found. We take Langer's results here. Our conclusions do not change even if the other data are taken into account.
