Abstract:

We investigate the statistical properties of the actual periodic orbits in a 4-disk billiard system in the context of pruning. For served value of the system parameter, we numerically obtain approximately 1,000,000 periodic orbits that have no more than 20 collisions. We also compute some statistical quantities of the resultant periodic orbits. In these statistics, we observe a periodic peak structure that survives pruning; that is, it possesses a “pruning-proof property”.
