The Kobayashi and Maskawa Paper: The Early Days

Abstract:

In this short note, I decribe the circumstances immediately before and after the paper by Kobayashi and Maskawa came out. I pay some attention to the other suggestions for six quarks for a variety of reasons, and the experimental establishment of the Standard Model.
