S-Wave Pion-Nucleon Interaction

Abstract:

Pion-nucleon scattering in the limit of low energy is investigated in order to see some characteristic property of pion-nucleon interaction in the nucleon core. It is pointed out that the value of coupling constant in nucleon core ought to be reduced in appearance of f=(µ/2M)g in spite of the fact that its value in the neighborhood of pion cloud is g. Moreover, some attempt to eliminate the divergence included in the dispersion relation is made on the basis of the above result, and the experimental results for s-wave phase shifts can be explained satisfactorily.
