Elastic Ether Theory of Elementary Particles. II

Hideo Fukutome

Research Institute for Fundamental Physics, Kyoto University, Kyoto

(Received June 5, 1962)

A theory of relativistic elastic continuum with intrinsic angular momentum is developed. The elastic medium with intrinsic angular momentum is called “the gyro-elastic medium”. The Lagrangian of the gyro-elastic medium depends on the third order Lagrange Tensor called “the fluidity tensor” as well as the second order strain tensor. It is shown that Dirac's ether is a special case of the gyro-elastic media, so that the electromagnetic field may be interpreted in terms of the ether model of elementary particles which was proposed previously. A spinor formulation of the rotational flow of the gyro-elastic medium is given. It is shown that Heisenberg's “Urmaterie” field may be interpreted as a purely rotational gyro-elastic continuum.
