Abstract:

In the simple models (Nambu model and Bose fields with the interaction Hamiltonian: λφ4 and λφ3), it is shown up to the lowest order of the coupling constant that the self-consistent mass equation is equivalent to the requirement that the energy expectation value of the trial vacuum state, in which the particle mass m is involved as the unknown parameter, takes the stationary value as the function of m, and that the minimum condition on the expectation value is written as df(m)/dm<1 for m satisfying the self-consistent mass equation m=f(m).
