Abstract:

The backward π±p scattering is analyzed using the Regge pole hypothesis of a nucleon and π-N resonances. The residue function is determined from the resonance parameters (mass, width and elasticity). Qualitative agreement with experiment is obtained. In particular the difference between the π+p and π-p scattering is explained.
