Abstract:
High energy total cross sections of nucleons and pseudoscalar mesons are analysed under the assumption that 2+-mesons (Reggeons), which are exchanged between hadrons, are described by the 36-dimensional reducible representation of SU(3). The universal coupling properties and the extended nonet coupling ansatz are used to determine the coupling of the relevant interaction.

Furthermore, to avoid the ambiguity arising from the large experimental errors of σpn, we employed the relation σpn = σpp - σpp + σpn + σn-p - σn+p. This is one of those relations between total cross section differences which proved to be very satisfactory.
