Effects of Correlation in the Core on the Motion of Outer Two Nucleons

Abstract:

We study the effects of the two-particle-two-hole correlation in the core on the motion of the outer two particles and two holes. Using a method of scattering eigenmode diagonalization, we can derive the renormalization effect on the one-particle energy and the backward configuration mixing to the state of the outer nucleons. It is found that the effects are considerable and the level schemes of O¹⁸, F¹⁸ and N¹⁴ are reproduced by using the reaction matrix as the residual interaction.
