Abstract:

Pion-nucleon forward elastic scattering has been analyzed using the dispersion relations related to the nonlocality. We have investigated the case when causality is violated in the neighbourhood of the vertex of the light cone. From comparison with the recent Brookhaven experiments, it is shown that there exits an acausal at a small distance, 0.6 of a meson Compton wavelength, i.e. 0.85 ×10-13 cm. Also our results are compatible with experiments on the charge-exchange forward cross sections.
