High Energy π-p Backward Scattering in Regge Pole Model

Abstract:

Backward π-p scattering at 3-8 GeV/c is studied using the Regge pole model by exchanging Δδ-trajectory. It is shown that although the energy dependence and the slope of the backward peak for |u|\lesssim0.3 (GeV/c)2 agree with the experimental data, it is difficult to reproduce qualitative experimental feature in the region |u|\gtrsim0.3 (GeV/c)2.
Polarization at 8 GeV/c and the masses of parity-doublets with Jp=3/2-, 7/2- and 11/2± are also calculated by the parameters of Δδ-trajectory.
