On the Repulsive Core and the Nonstatic Effects of Nuclear Forces in Momentum Space

Abstract:

Nucleon-nucleon scattering due to the exchange of π, ω, ρ and an isoscalar meson is calculated for spin singlet states in momentum space. We are mainly concerned with the problem whether or not the ω-meson exchange can be the origin of the repulsive core by treating the nonstatic effects of heavy mesons as accurately as possible. The ω-nucleon coupling constant obtained in the 1S0 state by momentum-space calculations can be taken smaller than that obtained from the static coordinate-space potential, but is still too large to reconcile with small values inferred from the higher partial wave fit.
In the framework of the one-boson-exchange model, the non-static effects are attractive and cannot produce the repulsive effects in the 1S0 state. Comparison with the results obtained from the velocity-dependent potential shows that such attractive nonstatic effects can be simulated by the effect of a p2-dependent term.
