Abstract:

A bootstrap calculation is performed for the nonleptonic P-wave decay of hyperons. These decays can be treated as the scattering processes: spurion+baryon → pion+baryon. It is assumed that the weak interaction transforms like the sixth component of the octet. The f/d ratio for the weak interaction is obtained from the self-consistency conditions as a functions of the f/d ratio for the strong interaction. P-wave amplitudes are calculated by using these f/d ratios. The results are qualitatively in agreement with experiment. It is shown that the inclusion of the effect of Roper resonance makes the results better.
