Daughter Trajectories, the Freedman-Wang Cancellation and Multiple Regge Poles

Abstract:

The Freedman-Wang cancellation in the backward scattering of unequal-mass scalar particles is analyzed in detail by means of a general theory of coinciding simple poles. As a result, one confirms that the k-th daughter trajectory generally induces a multiple Regge pole of order k + 1. Furthermore, one finds formulas for the expansion coefficients of the trajectory functions α_k(s) and the reduced residue functions β_k(s) = ∑_ms^-k+mβ_k^(m). The expressions for α_k^′(0), α_k^′′(0), β_k⁽⁰⁾ and β_k⁽¹⁾ are calculated explicitly. A general consideration is made on the number of dynamical parameters involved in α_k^(m)(0) and β_k^(m).
