Abstract:
The effect of fluctuations in the superconducting order parameter on the electronic states is examined at the dirty limit from the viewpoint of the microscopic theory in the classical range where the Aslamazov-Larkin approximations are valid. It gives rise to the effective existence of the order parameter and the renormalization of the relaxation time of electronic excitations. The electronic density of states, n(ω), deviated from its normal-state value is calculated. Correct treatments of the effects of impurities are essential in obtaining the right results. The depression of n(ω= 0) is proportional to t-3/2 for the three- and two-dimensional samples, respectively, t being the reduced temperature t = (T-Tc)/Tc. It is consistent with the experiment by Cohen et al. However, some discrepancies remain concerning the magnitude of the depression and the ω dependence of n(ω). The range in which the Aslamazov-Larkin approximations are appropriate is also discussed.
