Abstract:

We have shown that a kind of unitarity imposes a condition on the propagators of high-spin particles. The usual propagators do not satisfy this condition, while those which have been introduced in connection with the O(4) symmetry satisfy it. The dressed propagators have poles even at lower partial waves. This fact means that a high-spin particle cannot exist by itself, but it must be accompanied by lower-spin particles. The existence of the latter may correspond to the abnormal solutions of the B-S equation. Also a difficulty of the scalar-tensor theory of the graviton is pointed out.
