Alpha-Cluster Structure and Weak Coupling Feature in Light sd-Shell Nuclei

— General Discussion and 19F Problem —

(Received September 17, 1971)

Abstract:

With the aim to investigate the core excited states in nuclei from 20Ne to 16O*, an α-cluster model is presented which can be applied to non α-nuclei. Both alpha-clustering and overall antisymmetrization are found to be important to reproduce the weak α-hole repulsion, which is responsible to weak coupling features and other trends of the core excited states observed in these nuclei. The nucleus 19F(19Ne) is treated especially in detail and it is shown that the observed weak coupling behavior is understood consistently within this model.
