Abstract:

The formulae of calculation of the nuclear level density based on the theory of superconductivity are presented. Special attention is paid to the dependence of the level density on the angular momentum. The moment of inertia is evaluated using the cranking model. For a deformed nucleus, the Coriolis anti-pairing effect is taken into account. The obtained formulae do not contain any open parameters. The numerical calculations are made for the single-particle spectrum of the Nilsson model without the use of asymptotic integral expressions. The results of calculations are compared with experimental data for 68Ge and 242Pu. The agreement is satisfactory.
