Abstract:
A gauge theory of unified weak and electromagnetic interactions is generalized to hadronic systems on the basis of the quartet model satisfying lepton-baryon symmetry. It is proved, in our model, that (a) the pure hadronic parts of the Lagrangian should obey exact chiral SU(4)⊗SU(4) invariance and (b) the permissible form of symmetry breaking should be limited to (4,4*)⊕(4*,4)-like mass terms in so far as we work with a vector gluon theory, which is not assumed to be of chiral SU(4)-singlet.
