Abstract:
The model-space effective Hamiltonian Heff is formulated on the basis of the unitary-transformation method. The Heff is obtained through the similarity transformation of the original Hamiltonian. The Heff is proved to be Hermitian and independent of energy eigenvalue. A method is proposed which constructs a perturbative solution for the unitary operator leading to Heff. The connection of model-space wave functions with true eigenfunctions is investigated by means of a quasi-particle picture introduced through the canonical transformation of single-particle operators.
