Abstract:

The hadron mass formula is discussed in the quark-counting aspect. It is shown that the “free” quark picture gives the Gell-Mann Okubo formula. A nonet mass formula for mesons is proposed and the inverted assignment for η(549) and η(958) in the 0- nonet is suggested. Classification of existing mesons into nonets is attempted.
