Abstract:
We demonstrate the explicit construction of a ground state baryon in the framework of a theory of spatially extended, strongly bound objects. Quarks, the constituents of hadrons, are confined in a finite spatial region specified by a scalar Hartree field. Using a variational method, masses, the spatial extensions of quarks and of scalar fields and other parameters appearing in the theory are evaluated.
