Abstract:

On the basis of the baryon-lepton correspondence and the three-triplet or -quartet model of hadrons, we extend SUM(2) as the symmetry in the leptonic world to SU(3)′′, and propose a new model of the weak interaction which is SU(3)′′-invariant. It is assumed that matrix elements of the charged hadronic currents Jρ(νll) between ordinary hadron states are the same as those of the Cabibbo current, where Jρ(νll) represents a current which couples to the leptonic current lγρ(1-γ5l; l = e, µ.
Generalized Adler- and Gross-Smith-type sum rules are derived above the charm and the colour thresholds. Four possible schemes due to charge assignments to the fourth member in the quartet model are taken into consideration, and discriminations of them are discussed. It is pointed out that the four schemes are grouped into two, between which characteristic differences in observed quantities of ν(ν)-N reactions exist. This depends on the (V, A) character of the weak current and the assumption on incident neutrino helicity, and is independent of concrete forms of Jρ(νll).
