Abstract:

A possible generalization of the Gell-Mann-Oakes-Renner type mass formula for the 16-plet 0--mesons is proposed by introducing the violation of SU(4) symmetry of the vacuum and the corrections to the decay constants f's of corresponding mesons. The results obtained include, for example, a new sum rule for squared masses of charmed mesons, mF2 - mD2 = λ(mK2 - mπ2) with a parameter λ representing the effects of corrections considered. This sum rule would provide a direct measure for the effects of violation of SU(4) symmetry once the masses of D- and F-mesons are determined precisely.
Also discussed are the more involved relations among the masses of D-, F- and ηc-mesons based on the proposed new mass formula. By identifying recently communicated (K±π\mp)-state at 1.87 GeV with the D0-meson, the expected mass values of F+-mesons are estimated under various assumptions on the patterns of symmetry breakings.
