Abstract:
A counting rule we have proposed gives the same power behaviours of two-body reactions and of form factors as the dimensional counting rule in so far as the baryon B and the meson M are concerned, where the composite structure, B = qqqJ and M = q q, is assumed, J denoting the conserved junction of three strings linked to the urbaryon q. Our rule leads to the pT-8 behaviour of the single-particle inclusive cross section ρ≡Ed σ/ dp3 at large pT, when the hard subprocess is the lowest rearrangement of the constituent q and J(qq →qq, qJ →qJ, JJ →JJ, etc.). Taking this lowest subprocess, we examine leading behaviours of ρ∼pT-8 (1 - xT)m with xT ≡2pT / √s at xT ∼1, particle ratios among various single particle inclusive cross sections and two-particle correlations. The overall agreement with experiment is found. We have ρ(pp →π0 X) / ρ(π± p →π0 X) ∼(1 - xT)2. Various charge ratios such as ρ(pp →π+ X) / ρ(pp →π-X) > 2 at xT ∼1 are reproduced when the distribution and fragmentation functions which give characteristic aspects of deep inelastic lepton-hadron reactions are adopted. Energy dependence of the two-particle correlations, that differs between the same and opposite sides, is explained.
