e⁺e^- Decay Processes of cc Bound States in Relativistic Harmonic Oscillator Model

Abstract:

We investigate ψ's →e⁺e^- decays in a relativistic composite particle model for cc bound states. Our model includes two assumptions: (1) To use the relativistic harmonic oscillator wave functions to describe inner orbital motions of cc. (2) The existence of S-D mixing force as a perturbation. We can reproduce the experimental values over all e⁺e^- decays of ψ's including recently discovered ψ(3.772), in which ψ(4.414) and ψ(3.772) are identified with the cc bound states whose dominant components are 2³D₁ (unlike the ordinary assignment) and 1³D₁, respectively. Furthermore, we predict another resonance whose dominant component is 3³S₁: mass ∼4.2 GeV, Γ_e⁺e^- ∼3 keV.
