Abstract:
The modification due to electron correlation of the effective exchange parameter I(q) in the q-dependent susceptibility are studied within the T-approximation in the presence of intra- and inter-atomic interactions. The expression for I(q) is obtained in the case of low electron density. It is divided into the RPA term \tildeI(q), in which the bare intra- and inter-atomic interactions are replaced by the modified ones, and a correction term Ic(q) which vanishes at q=0. The effective values of the electron interactions, in terms of which \tildeI(q) is described, are numerically calculated for the b.c.c. and f.c.c. structures. It is found that the important inter-atomic interactions are not so much reduced from their bare values by the correlation as the intra-atomic interaction is, and Ic(q) compensates somewhat the decreasing behavior of \tildeI(q) against q. In relation to our previous RPA analysis for I(q) in nickel, the q-dependence of I(q) is numerically evaluated. It is deduced from the result that the RPA analysis is not modified seriously by the correlation effect.
