Abstract:

The method of the self-consistent harmonic approximation is applied to the BGD model expressed by the phase Hamiltonian, which is derived by Luther et al. An excitation gap is obtained in case -2<g1||/(πvF)<0, where the quantity g1|| denotes the interaction of the backward scattering part of parallel spin. In this case, response functions of both CDW and TS are divergent as T→0. Results are compared with other work.
