Effect of Inter-Atomic Interaction on Dynamic Susceptibility

Abstract:

The dynamic transverse susceptibility in the ferromagnetic state is obtained in RPA. In the presence of the inter-atomic interactions other than the exchange type, the effective exchange parameter depends on frequency ω. The effect of this ω-dependence on the spin wave stiffness constant D is examined by taking the band distortion into account. It is found that the above effect can be neglected under various situations and thus the effective exchange parameter emerging in D can be approximated by the static one. As a check of our previous analysis, the intra-atomic contribution to D is estimated by the use of the band structure used by Lowde et al. and the value is found to be consistent with the results given by other authors. From the result found by Gunnarsson for the band distortion, it is inferred that the inter-atomic interactions, other than the exchange type, in the present scheme play an important role in the band distortion.
