Abstract:

A number of even- and odd-parity levels in 19F are shown to be well explained by an α-15N plus t-16O coupled channel orthogonality condition model. Direct inter-cluster potentials and the coupling potential of α-15N and t-16O channel calculated from a two-body interaction are used with some adjustment for the t-16O potential. Both the α- and t-clusterings are important to understand the structure of 19F. An interesting rule for the coupling between the two cluster states is derived and shown to give an explanation of the large spin-orbit splittings in the t-16O states. Coulomb displacement energies between 19F and 19Ne are also discussed.
