Abstract:

On the basis of the Alexander-Anderson model for a pair of magnetic impurities, the correlation function between localized moments at neighbouring sites is investigated by the perturbation method with respect to the Coulomb repulsion U. It is shown that the coupling between localized moments in the ground state changes from antiferromagnetic one to ferromagnetic one as the electron number of impurities departs from half-filled case. This result is consistent with the conclusion based on the Hartree-Fock approximation. The spin- and charge-susceptibility and the specific heat for a single impurity are also given as functions of d-electron number and the Coulomb repulsion U.
