Abstract:
We show that it is the Hopf maps that connect the fields in the (CP1)2 and (HP1)4 models with those of the non-linear σ-models, as anticipated from the fact that S2 and S4, which constrain the fields of the σ-models, are homeomorphs of CP1 and HP1 respectively.
