Abstract:

On the basis of our previous works we propose a general method for solving the equation of rotational motion in the intrinsic space and determining the moment of inertia. Applying this method to many-j shell system with a quadrupole force, we get the cranking formula for the momnet of inertia. From our equations in the intrinsic space we derive a set of equations similar to those in the RPA method. In this way a new understanding of the RPA method for nuclear rotational motions is suggested.
We also mention briefly the validity of the linearization approximation used in our method.
