Abstract:

The structure of 44Ti is studied in the extended model which combines the shell model with the 40Ca-α cluster model for both the positive-parity and the negative-parity states. When the negative-parity shell-model bases are constructed, a special care is paid to eliminate the spurious states due to the center-of-mass excitations from them. The quasi-rotational feature of the ground band and the highly excited 40Ca-α resonance states are well reproduced. The enhanced B(E2) values and the α-transfer spectroscopic factor SαL of the ground band and also the 40Ca-α resonance states above the α-threshold are well explained in the present model. The lowest Jπ=1- state is predicted at 3.76MeV and the α-cluster-like Jπ=1- state is predicted at 12.2MeV in good agreement with the experiment. Calculated SαL for the negatice-parity yrast levels are too large compared with the experiment.
