Abstract:
By suitably constructing the effective Hamiltonian to make calculations tractable and transparent, the characteristics of the developed π0-condensed phase in neutron matter are investigated. It is found that the effective mass of nucleon becomes remarkably larger than that in the normal phase. The cause is attributed to the structure-change of the Fermi gas nature. With attention to a particular spin-ordering of the phase, the role of non-tensor force composed mainly of central one is discussed. Strength of its repulsion in triplet-odd states is found to affect the nucleon effective mass, the onset density and the stability of the phase.
