Abstract:

A formulation of point mechanics with singular Lagrangians is developed further on the basis of the Poincaré-Cartan invariant form. Its extension to field theory is also made. Properties with respect to gauge transformation of the electromagnetic and the Yang-Mills fields are discussed in the light of this formalism.
