Confinement Criteria and Compact (QED)2 + 1

Abstract:

We reformulate the Georgi-Glashow model in 2+1 dimensions, namely, compact (QED)2+1 following the quantization method developed by Kugo and Ojima. It is shown that the model does not satisfy confinement criteria proposed by Kugo and Ojima, although electrically charged objects are confined in the sense of the area-law behavior of the Wilson loop. Restoration of residual “local gauge symmetry” is not realized, either.
