Abstract:

We reformulate three geometrical models, invariant under coordinate reparametrization, as the gauge theory of Yang-Mills type. They are relativistic free particle, spinning particle and string models. It is accomplished by extending the point gauge transformation to the linear canonical transformation for the matter fields.
