Numerical Evidence of the Existence of Approximate Kink-Antikink States and Breather-Like Modes in Sine-Form Discrete Double Sine-Gordon Equation

Abstract:

A numerical study of kink-antikink head-on collision is made for sin (un+1-un)-sin (un-un-1)-ün=0.1[sin un-ηsin (2un)] to show that (I) the kinks preserve their identity after collision with scanty ripples for η=-0.1 and (II) breather-like modes appear for η=0.1.
