Abstract:
We propose a new improved eikonal formalism of multipomeron exchange processes, where the pomeron exchanged between valence partons is distinguished from the pomeron between sea partons. The latter has a small portion of available energy and produces multiple exchanges of them (this part is eikonalized). We encounter the unitarity violation problem. This, however, can be overcome by the proposed subtraction scheme. The improved model predicts a suppression of high pomeron-multiplicity events as compared with the old result.
