Abstract:
The low energy phenomenology of the extra U(1) model arising from the E8 ×E8 superstring theory is studied. In the extra U(1) model with an intermediate scale, specific extra U(1) charge assignments are required from proton stability and fermion mass spectra. Masses of two Z bosons and a mixing angle are constrained by the recent experimental data in pp collision, in e+e- annihilation and in neutrino scattering. The extra U(1) model explains observed values of Rν=σNC(ν) / σCC(ν) and AFB (e+e- →µ+µ-) successfully but the standard model does not. It is also found that the extra U(1) model based on the grand desert scenario is phenomenologically unfavorable.
