Abstract:
It is shown that (i) the π+π- enhancement observed in the γγ→π+π- reaction near threshold mainly comes from interference between the resonant amplitude for the I = 0 state and the nonresonant amplitude obtained by the Born approximation and (ii) this interpretation is consistent with the observed ratio of σ(γγ→π0π0) to σ(γγ→π+π-).
