Abstract:

We study pion-nucleus elastic scattering in the GeV region within the Glauber theory. For the use of the forward multiple scattering approximation, the pion-nucleon scattering amplitude is parametrized in the Gaussian form. The calculated results are compared very well with the 12C and 40Ca data at the laboratory momentum of k = 0.8 GeV/c.
