Abstract:
From the observation of the sub-millisecond pulsar in SN1987A the following implications are obtained. 1) The stiff equation of state of neutron star matter, such as Mean Field, Tensor Interaction, Bethe and Johnson I are ruled out. 2) The pulsar has a possibility to collapse into a black hole by spin-down. 3) Although the sinusoidal modulation is explained by the existence of a 10-3 M⊙ companion object, it seems hard to account for such an object in the scenario of the supernova explosion. We estimate the magnetic field, ellipticity and the mass of the neutron star and also the period of glitches.
