New Possibility of Solving the Problem of the Lifetime Ratio τ(Λb ) / τ(Bd)

Abstract:

We discuss the problem of the large discrepancy between the observed ratio of lifetimes for Λb and Bd and the theoretical prediction obtained from the heavy quark effective theory. A new possibility of solving this problem is proposed from the viewpoint of the operator product expansion and the ratio of lifetimes for Ωb and Bd is predicted.
