Chapter I. Overview

Ryozo Tamagaki

Department of Physics, Kyoto University, Kyoto 606-01

Abstract:

An overview is given to various phases of nuclear matter in high density region from the nuclear density ρ0 to about 10 ρ0. Emphasis is put on how the characteristic aspects of the phases and their realization mechanisms reflect specific features of the nuclear interaction. This chapter also serves for an introductory description to the succeeding chapters.
