Abstract:
Formation process of double-Λ hypernuclei is investigated on
the basis of the idea of a double-Λ compound nucleus formed in
Ξ absorption. The behavior of a hyperon in nuclear medium is
studied by calculating the elastic/conversion widths and the mean free
path, and the probabilities of single-Λ and double-Λ
sticking after the ΞN →ΛΛ conversion are discussed. The decay probabilities from a double-Λ compound nucleus to various fragments are evaluated in a statistical treatment.
