The present article is a report on the Symposium on Elementary
Particles, which was held in Kyoto under the sponsorship of the
Research Institute for Fundamental Physics, during the period
September 21-23, 1965, prior to the International Conference on
Elementary Particles in Commemoration fo the Thirtieth Anniversary of
Meson Theory.
The purpose of the Symposium was to explore new approaches and ideas
as well as to summarize recent developments. The Symposium was
expected to play a role more or less complementary to the
International Conference that followed the Symposium through the
participation fo considerable number of younger Japanese scientists
and give a good chance of communication of new ideas occurred to
physicists of various countries and generations.
