Abstract:
Schlijper [Phys. Rev. B 27 (1983), 6841] studied the variational principle in the cluster variation method of cooperative phenomena and proved that the values of the free energy obtained in successive approximations of that method converge to the exact free energy in the thermodynamic limit. His result is extended to the random Ising model.
